The Ultimate Golden Triangle Guide

The Golden Triangle is India's most iconic tourist circuit, connecting three extraordinary cities that together tell the story of India's rich past and vibrant present.

Delhi — Where History Meets Modernity

Delhi is a city of contrasts. Start in Old Delhi, where narrow lanes buzz with activity — the spice market of Khari Baoli, the food stalls of Chandni Chowk, and the magnificent Jama Masjid create an overwhelming sensory experience.

In New Delhi, the wide boulevards designed by Edwin Lutyens lead to landmarks like India Gate, the Presidential Palace, and the serene Humayun's Tomb — often called the precursor to the Taj Mahal.

Don't miss: A rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk at dawn, Humayun's Tomb at sunset, and street food at Paranthe Wali Gali.

Agra — The City of Love

Agra needs little introduction — it's home to the Taj Mahal, one of the world's most recognizable monuments. But Agra offers much more than this single wonder.

The Agra Fort is a sprawling complex with stunning views of the Taj. Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital just outside the city, is hauntingly beautiful. And the local Petha sweets are a must-try delicacy.

Don't miss: The Taj Mahal at sunrise, the view from Mehtab Bagh at sunset, and the intricate marble inlay workshops.

Jaipur — The Pink City

Jaipur is a feast for the senses. The Amber Fort sprawls across a hilltop with mirror-work halls and panoramic views. The Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) is the city's most photographed landmark, and the City Palace is still partially occupied by the royal family.

Jaipur's bazaars are legendary — from block-printed textiles to gemstones, silver jewelry to leather goods, the shopping here is world-class.

Don't miss: Amber Fort in the morning light, Nahargarh Fort at sunset for panoramic views, and shopping in Johari Bazaar.

How to Connect the Triangle

The three cities form a roughly equilateral triangle with each side about 250 km. The most common route is Delhi → Agra → Jaipur → Delhi, which flows naturally and allows you to stop at Fatehpur Sikri between Agra and Jaipur.

We recommend at least 5 days for a comfortable Golden Triangle tour, though 3-4 days work for a faster pace.
